Mid Water Flies

Mid Water - The Nymphs

Photography by Carney Turner
This pattern already has a considerable reputation with still waters. It has taken many thousands of trout all over the U.K.
Both are established killing patterns with the former now considered to be an advanced pattern because of it's ‘buggy' profile.
The green and black is particularly effective early and late season with the orange and black coming into it's own from June onwards.
As already mentioned this is one of the most successful of the original fly dressings.
Similar to the Nimrod in shape but the green body makes this a successful pattern imitating the pupa of the green midge.
Based on an idea given to me by my good friend Arthur Cove, the tail is made from thin rubber strips of a red balloon. Imagine the life like movement in the water.
